Atlanticon 2001

MAPS & DIRECTIONS

Here are some handy maps and directions that should help in finding your way to Atlanticon this year!

STEP 1 -- Getting to Timonium

A.  Flying in to "BWI" Airport -- The airport is on the south side of the city.  See indicated point on the map below. Exit the airport and follow signs to "I-95 North to Baltimore".   Continue to I-695 West (this is the "loop" around Baltimore). Follow I-695 West (clockwise on the map) all the way up to I-83 North.  (Don't take the exit for I-83 South, which you'll see first.) Once onto I-83N, take the first exit (Exit 16A) onto Timonium Rd.  Continue in Step 2 below.

B. Driving in from the North -- You'll likely be coming down I-95 from the Delaware or Philly region, as shown at the top right of the map below. Take the exit for I-695 West (this is the "loop" around Baltimore city), and follow to I-83 North.  Once onto I-83N, take the first exit (Exit 16A) onto Timonium Rd.  Continue in Step 2 below.

C. Driving in from the South -- You likely be coming up I-95 North from the Washington, DC region, as shown in the bottom left of the map below.  Follow I-95 North to I-695 West (this is the "loop" around Baltimore). Follow I-695 West (clockwise on the map) all the way up to I-83 North.  (Don't take the exit for I-83 South, which you'll see first.) Once onto I-83N, take the first exit (Exit 16A) onto Timonium Rd.  Continue in Step 2 below.

STEP 2 -- Getting to the "Holiday Inn Select"
Reference the more detailed map below.  Coming off I-83 North at Exit 16A, continue eastbound off the exit ramp for 100 yards to the first light at "Greenspring Road".  Turn right onto Greenspring Road and the entrance driveway for the Holiday Inn Select is the 3rd one on the right.  The hotel is set back a bit behind another building, so drive along the access driveway and park anywhere near the front of the hotel entrance.  Come in, register, unload your "stuff" and meet us at 5pm if you'd like to join an informal group going over to Gibby's restaurant for a "No Host" dinner.  (That is, you pay for your own meal :-)

More Pointers

The "Timonium Fairgrounds" is in very close proximity of the hotel.  This is where the "Greater Baltimore Hamboree and Computerfest" is being held on Saturday and Sunday.

You can see Gibby's Restaurant at the top of the map, located at the northwest corner of York and W. Padonia roads.  This will be where we'll have our "No Host Dinner" on Friday evening at about 5:30.  (A "No Host Dinner" is one at which you pay for your own meal.)  Gibby's is quite well-known for their good seafood -- not to expensive and certainly casual attire.  They have great crab cakes, steamed crabs with Baltimore's famous "Old Bay" seasoning, and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on draught! ;-)  There are many other restaurants in the area, including the usual fast food emporiums.

You'll also notice on the Map the hashed-line indicating the Light Rail, which is an inexpensive ride downtown to the Baltimore Inner Harbor area of shops, food, aquarium, museum, shopping, etc.  This is a great way for others in your family to spend the day while you play with your QRP friends.  The station for the Light Rail is on Greenspring Rd, just on the northern side of the Timonium Rd intersection.  Check with the front desk at the hotel for the frequent departure schedules.

Just ask if you have any questions!
