**************************************************************************************** **************************************************************************************** AF_908 VERSION HISTORY 12/09/2005 **************************************************************************************** **************************************************************************************** **************************************************************************************** VERSION 1.2d (12/27/2005) Fixed problem of exiting AF908 "Run" mode to a freeze of "AF908 / Select Function" display. Now (again) allows proper access of Config pushbutton from the "Select Function" display. **************************************************************************************** VERSION 1.2c (12/09/2005) This version fixes a bug in AF908: If PB2 or PB3 are pressed before dsp908 or ASP has been run, the instrument freezes and recycling the power is the only recovery. (PB2 or PB3 are not logically active unless dsp908 or ASP is running so that's probably why no one reported or noticed it). It's a memory initialization bug that was introduced in AF908 and in the combined AA908+AF908 package. **************************************************************************************** VERSION 1.2b (4/25/2005) In addition to the integration of AF908 and AA908 into a single software load there are some further enhancements to AF908. These are present in both AF908 in its "solitary" form and in the integrated version. You must re-load any DSP programs that were previoulsy downloaded to the Micro908's SEEPROM. The reason being that the location were they are stored in the Micro908's SEEPROM has been changed. Thus any currently stored DSP programs will not be found by AF908. The reason for the change is to anticipate the future release of a version of AA908 that will allow scanning and saving the scan data in the SEEPROM for later uploading to a PC. To avoid "collisions" the DSP programs are now loaded at the top end of the SEEPROM's address space leaving the low end for scan data. Backlite LCD support has been added. The operational support when running DSP908 has been enhanced: - Additional functions now present the current setting as the first value displayed when changing: Taps, Gains, Set Widths and let you hear the effect of the change as you dial through possible values. There is a new method for downloading DSP programs to the Micro908. It is NOT recommended for use and is NOT a replacement for the current download mechanism. It does allow the use of an "ordinary" serial terminal program to download DSP programs, but it has a number of potential places to mess up and the exact usage depends in part on the capabilities and quirks of the serial terminal program. It may be of use on non-PC platforms and that's why it is included. So it will not be confused with the normal download it is locate under the PB4 "Config" menu as "Manual Download". Don't use it unless you really need it and understand the pitfalls. See the updated manual for details if you must. There are no changes to any of the DSP programs nor to any of the PC programs. An updated User Manual v1.2a has been posted to the web site. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We will keep working on improvements, as always, and keep everyone posted. Thanks for everyone's support. Let us know how this new release works for you! 73, Steve Holton N1NB sholton@optonline.net www.amqrp.org/kits/micro908/af908/af908.html and ...
